From the N&R:

The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association has announced that Winston-Salem State will host the conference's football championship game in 2013. The conference announced Monday it unanimously accepted Winston-Salem State's bid to host the game at Bowman Gray Stadium. The game was previously played Durham County Memorial Stadium in Durham.

Commissioner Jacqie Carpenter says the move is needed to accommodate a growing fan base and that hosting the championship at a member institution is the best decision for the future. The 2013 CIAA football championship will be held Nov. 16.

This better not be a jinx!

Hayes will not be satisfied until Winston is hosting all CIAA post season games besides basketball. I love his attitude. Can't wait for them to reveal proposed improvements to BG

W-S will also host the 2013 CIAA volleyball championship Nov 15-17.

"Winston-Salem State University will be a fantastic host for both the CIAA volleyball and football championships. Their experience in hosting will assist the conference in ensuring the fans, sponsors and student-athletes have a spectacular weekend. This is a great opportunity to support and showcase volleyball and football in the community, while celebrating the athletic and academic achievements of some of the best student-athletes in Division II," said Jacqie Carpenter – Commissioner, CIAA.

So apparently tonight's UNCP/WSSU game is already sold out. I guess I'll be streaming it online. Has this ever happened for a Div II Thursday night game?

The buzz for this team is so huge. Really the entire school is getting buzz. The Cleveland Classic added the band as their twitter icon. I honestly wouldnt be surprised if they asked the Rams to participate for a 3rd time next year.

This is great marketing for the city!

They even made the DiscoverOhio's multi cultural tourism booklet cover!

I watched the first half and fourth quarter on TV - what a disappointment. I'm really confused by the Division II School ads, which seemed to have an opposite affect.

It doesn’t happen often in the CIAA, but the two schools playing in the league’s championship game at Bowman Gray Stadium on Saturday are both ranked in the top 25 in Division II football poll. Ninth-ranked Winston-Salem State, the two-time defending CIAA champion, will take on No. 22 Virginia State at 1 p.m. in one of the more intriguing title games in a long time. Both teams are 9-1 and they have yet to face each other since WSSU re-joined the CIAA before the 2010 season.

GO RAMS!

Looks like they had to move the games "out of Dodge" to avoid any potential incidents. Winston's loss, Fayetteville's gain

The semifinals and final of the CIAA volleyball championships, postponed over the weekend, will be played Saturday November 23 at Fayetteville State starting at 10 a.m. Winston-Salem State will play Virginia State in one semifinal, and Chowan will play Fayetteville State in the other. The championship match is scheduled for 4 p.m.

The penalties should be swift and harsh against Virginia State. And yeah, the coach should be fired.

Like Wake, a new head coach for WSSU football too.

Best Wishes Maynor.

Kudos to the WSSU's Red Sea of Sound for being named the Number 1 Division II band by ESPN and the Undefeated's Best Marching Bands at HBCU's!

This was an interesting find! A Winston-Salem State basketball game from February 23, 1967! It's in two parts and yes, that is Earl "The Pearl" Monroe (#10)! That Winston-Salem State basketball team was the first HBCU team to win an NCAA national championship!
